China has reaffirmed its objective and fair stance on the Ukraine crisis, with Foreign Minister Wang Yi advocating for peace talks and emphasizing the nation’s commitment to peace. Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made these remarks on Friday while co-hosting a ministerial meeting of the newly launched “Friends of Peace” platform.
Addressing the ongoing conflict, which has entered its third year, Wang expressed concern over the spreading flames of conflict and the increasing risk of spillover effects. He stressed that the world must resolutely choose peace over war, reconciliation over hatred, and dialogue over confrontation.
“The international community should firmly stand on the side of peace, create conditions for peace, and strive to foster hope for peace,” Wang said, urging all parties involved to consider resuming peace talks at an appropriate time.
Wang clarified that the “Friends of Peace” platform is not about taking sides in the conflict or promoting bloc confrontation. Instead, it aims to rely on the United Nations and bring together more countries from the “Global South” to raise objective, balanced, and rational voices.
