In a significant move to enhance development and stability in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for the cultivation of more loyal, upright, and responsible officials. Marking the 70th anniversary of a pivotal training program for ethnic officials under the Party School of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Xi emphasized the crucial role of high-caliber leadership in the region’s future.
Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, acknowledged the training program’s substantial contributions over the past seven decades. He noted that it has not only strengthened the ranks of local officials but also bolstered economic and social development, promoting social stability and long-term security in Xinjiang.
“To fully and faithfully implement the Party’s policy for the governance of Xinjiang, it is essential to foster a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation,” Xi stated in his instruction. He underscored the importance of integrating this sense of unity throughout the training process, aiming to reinforce national cohesion and solidarity among all ethnic groups.
Highlighting the need for continuous improvement, Xi urged for strengthened research on fundamental theories and key issues related to ethnic affairs. “Improving the quality and effectiveness of the training program is vital for nurturing officials who are not only competent but also deeply committed to the ideals of the Party and the nation,” he added.
The instruction was read by Chen Xi, president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and National Academy of Governance, during a symposium held on Saturday to commemorate the program’s milestone anniversary. The event gathered officials and scholars who reflected on the program’s historical significance and discussed strategies for its future enhancement.
The focus on developing dedicated officials comes at a time when Xinjiang is experiencing dynamic changes and opportunities. By investing in leadership development, the CPC aims to ensure that the region continues on a path of sustainable growth and harmony.
Xi’s call resonates with broader efforts to promote unity and shared prosperity across all regions of China, emphasizing the crucial role of qualified and principled officials in achieving these goals.
