Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has extended festive greetings and sincere regards, on behalf of the CPC Central Committee, to farmers and people working in agriculture and rural areas ahead of the seventh Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival.
Xi, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the need to enhance the economic benefits of agriculture, increase farmers’ incomes, inject greater vitality into rural areas, and bring tangible benefits to farmers.
Despite the adverse impacts of natural disasters and other challenges this year, Xi noted that China has increased its summer grain output, ensured steady production of early rice, and is expecting another bumper grain harvest throughout the year. This will provide strong support for consolidating and strengthening the country’s economic recovery and promoting high-quality development.
To advance Chinese modernization, Xi stressed the importance of persistently consolidating the country’s agricultural foundation and promoting comprehensive rural revitalization.
He also called on farmers and people from other sectors to take action in turning the rural revitalization blueprint into reality, laying the foundation for modernizing agriculture and rural areas, and building China into an agricultural powerhouse.
