China’s top legislator, Zhao Leji, met with a delegation from the Republic of Korea (ROK)-China Parliamentarians’ Union on Thursday in Beijing, marking a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.
The delegation was led by Kim Tae-nyeon, president of the ROK-China Parliamentarians’ Union. Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering strong ties and cooperation for mutual benefit and regional prosperity.
Zhao, chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, underscored that the healthy and steady development of China-ROK relations aligns with the common interests of both countries. He highlighted that such collaboration contributes to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region.
He called for adherence to good neighborliness and friendship, urging both nations to follow the important consensus reached by their leaders. Zhao emphasized the need to strengthen mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, maintain stability in industrial and supply chains, and promote people-to-people exchanges.
“The NPC of China is willing to continue various forms of dialogue and exchanges with the ROK National Assembly to promote the development of bilateral relations,” Zhao stated.
Kim Tae-nyeon expressed the ROK’s commitment to developing relations with China. He congratulated China on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the NPC and reaffirmed the ROK-China Parliamentarians’ Union’s dedication to enhancing cooperation between legislative bodies and deepening people-to-people exchanges.
The meeting signifies a mutual desire to strengthen the China-ROK partnership, with both sides looking forward to increased collaboration across various sectors, laying a solid foundation for long-term bilateral relations.
