In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Kim Tae-nyeon, president of the ROK-China Parliamentarians’ Union, on Wednesday in Beijing. During the meeting, Wang Yi praised the ROK-China Parliamentarians’ Union for its vital role in fostering friendly relations between the two nations. Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed China’s willingness to expand all-round, mutually beneficial cooperation with the ROK. He emphasized the need to jointly defend the principles of free trade and safeguard the stability and smoothness of global supply chains.
Kim Tae-nyeon, accompanied by lawmakers from various political parties, conveyed the ROK’s enthusiasm for strengthening ties with China. He noted that the ROK-China Parliamentarians’ Union has garnered widespread participation across party lines, reflecting the high value placed on the relationship by all parties in the ROK.
