China’s Wang Yi Meets ROK Parliamentarians to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Kim Tae-nyeon, president of the ROK-China Parliamentarians’ Union, on Wednesday in Beijing. The meeting underscored the commitment of both China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) to enhance cooperation and maintain close ties amid changing international landscapes.

During the meeting, Wang Yi praised the ROK-China Parliamentarians’ Union for its vital role in fostering friendly relations between the two nations. Emphasizing the importance of regular exchanges, Wang highlighted that as close neighbors, China and the ROK have achieved mutual success and development, significantly contributing to regional peace and prosperity.

“Regardless of international and regional changes, or any challenges we may face, China and the ROK should keep pace with the times,” Wang Yi stated. “We must remain good neighbors with mutual trust and good partners with win-win cooperation, injecting new vitality into our bilateral relations.”

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed China’s willingness to expand all-round, mutually beneficial cooperation with the ROK. He emphasized the need to jointly defend the principles of free trade and safeguard the stability and smoothness of global supply chains.

Kim Tae-nyeon, accompanied by lawmakers from various political parties, conveyed the ROK’s enthusiasm for strengthening ties with China. He noted that the ROK-China Parliamentarians’ Union has garnered widespread participation across party lines, reflecting the high value placed on the relationship by all parties in the ROK.

“The association is eager to work hand in hand with China to strengthen strategic communication, enhance exchanges, and explore cooperation potential,” Kim said. “We aim to continuously improve mutual understanding between our peoples and promote friendly relations between the ROK and China.”

The meeting between Wang Yi and the ROK delegation signifies a mutual commitment to deepening ties and building a stronger partnership. As both countries navigate the complexities of the international environment, their continued collaboration promises to contribute to regional stability and prosperity.
