Beijing,—China’s Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that it will impose sanctions on nine U.S. military companies, including Sierra Nevada Corporation, in response to U.S. arms sales to China’s Taiwan region.
In a statement, the ministry stated that the United States has recently announced new arms sales plans to the Taiwan region, a move that seriously violates the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques. According to the ministry, these actions interfere in China’s internal affairs and undermine the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Under Articles 3, 4, 6, 9, and 15 of China’s Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, the following companies will face countermeasures: Sierra Nevada Corporation, Stick Rudder Enterprises LLC, Cubic Corporation, S3 AeroDefense, TCOM Limited Partnership, TextOre, Planate Management Group, ACT1 Federal, and Exovera.
The sanctions include freezing all properties of these companies within China. Additionally, organizations and individuals in China are prohibited from engaging in transactions, cooperation, or any other activities with them, according to the ministry.
The decision is set to take effect from September 18, 2024.
