Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on Gansu Province to deepen reforms and drive innovation to improve the well-being of its people and contribute to the nation’s modernization efforts. During his inspection tour from Tuesday to Friday, Xi urged the northwestern region to focus on ecological conservation, rural revitalization, and cultural heritage protection.
Visiting the historic Fuxi Temple in Tianshui City on Tuesday afternoon, Xi emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage. “It is imperative to protect and pass on the precious cultural heritage so that the wisdom and creativity of our ancestors will constantly inspire future generations and enhance national pride and confidence,” he said.
On Wednesday morning, Xi reviewed a local water diversion project, highlighting the need for better maintenance to improve people’s lives. At the Huaniu apple production base, he encouraged optimization of cultivation techniques and innovation in marketing models to expand the specialty industry and increase local incomes.
Xi’s tour also included the Maijishan Grottoes, where he inspected caves, sculptures, and paintings dating back over 1,600 years. He called on cultural relic workers to contribute to the preservation and innovative development of China’s traditional culture.
In Lanzhou, the provincial capital, Xi visited a local residential community, stressing the necessity of focusing on residents’ practical needs. “We must continuously improve community services, especially for the elderly and children,” he noted. During a visit to retired Party member Li Zongbiao, Xi praised local efforts in elderly care and community services, urging ongoing improvement.
Speaking to local residents ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Xi encouraged unity and hard work to achieve greater progress. “Next year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. We should be more united and make more efforts to create even greater achievements,” he said.
At the Yellow River near the Zhongshan Bridge in Lanzhou, Xi learned about ecological protection efforts for the “mother river” of China. He called for joint efforts to protect the river for the benefit of future generations.
During a meeting on Friday morning with the Communist Party of China (CPC) Gansu Provincial Committee and the provincial government, Xi highlighted the importance of promoting new-type industrialization and accelerating the transformation of traditional industries. He urged the province to build a significant national manufacturing base for new energy and related equipment, and to fortify ecological security in the western part of the country.
Xi also stressed the need to deepen reform, expand opening up, and implement a people-centered urbanization strategy effectively. He called for strengthening cultural heritage protection, promoting social advancement, and laying a solid foundation for common prosperity among all ethnic groups.
On his way to Gansu, Xi visited the Baoji Bronze Ware Museum in Shaanxi Province, praising China’s bronze civilization and urging better protection, research, and promotion of bronze cultural relics.
Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, accompanied Xi on the inspection tour. On Thursday, Xi met with senior officers and representatives of soldiers and civilian staff of the People’s Liberation Army troops stationed in Lanzhou.
