In the mountainous regions of Taishitun Township in Beijing, primary school teacher Diao Rongchun has dedicated herself to the education of children often overlooked. Her commitment exemplifies China’s drive to become a leading nation in education.
Diao embraces a teaching philosophy centered on “tolerance, gentleness, cultivation, and education.” She employs interactive methods that foster mutual appreciation and growth, ensuring each student receives personalized attention.
Going beyond the classroom, Diao travels extensively throughout the township, visiting left-behind children and single-parent students. She crafts special study plans tailored to their needs, earning the trust and gratitude of families in these remote areas.
Her unwavering dedication was recognized at an awards ceremony on Sunday, where Diao was among 716 individuals honored with the title of national model teacher. The event celebrated outstanding teachers and institutions ahead of China’s 40th Teachers’ Day, which falls on Tuesday.
At a national meeting on education held from Monday to Tuesday in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping extended greetings to educators across the country. He urged concerted efforts to make solid progress toward the strategic goal of building China into a leading country in education.
