Chinese top diplomat Wang Yi is set to attend a crucial BRICS security meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia, on September 11-12. The announcement was made by Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press briefing on Monday.
At the invitation of Sergei Shoigu, secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council, Wang Yi, who is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, will participate in the 14th Meeting of BRICS High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters, also known as the National Security Advisors Meeting.
The meeting brings together senior security officials from the BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—to discuss pressing security challenges and enhance cooperation on international and regional security issues.
