Chinese Vice President Han Zheng visited Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, embarking on a three-day trip aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation between the two neighboring countries. During his visit, Han met separately with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene, President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, and Parliament Speaker Dashzegve Amarbayasgalan.
In his meeting with Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene, Vice President Han emphasized China’s readiness to deepen political trust and expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Mongolia. Han highlighted opportunities for collaboration in energy, connectivity, and infrastructure construction. He also expressed China’s willingness to enhance people-to-people exchanges, particularly among youth, students, and media professionals.
“China welcomes Mongolia’s designation of 2023-2025 as the ‘Years to Visit Mongolia’ and is eager to promote mutual understanding between our peoples,” Han stated. He underscored the importance of consultation and coordination in international and regional affairs and proposed accelerating the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor.
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene noted that this year marks several significant anniversaries in the China-Mongolia relationship, including the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, the 30th anniversary of the revision of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty, and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership. He expressed Mongolia’s eagerness to work with China to advance bilateral relations in a new era, guided by principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and common development.
During his meeting with President Khurelsukh, Vice President Han reiterated that China and Mongolia are good neighbors, friends, and partners. He stated that China has always prioritized its relationship with Mongolia in its neighborhood diplomacy and highlighted the mutual support on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns.
“Let us work together to elevate our bilateral ties to a higher level by building a China-Mongolia community with a shared future,” Han proposed.
President Khurelsukh affirmed that Mongolia attaches great importance to developing its comprehensive strategic partnership with China and firmly adheres to the one-China policy. He expressed a desire to collaborate with China in building a community with a shared future that benefits the peoples of both countries and contributes to regional stability and prosperity.
In his discussion with Parliament Speaker Amarbayasgalan, Vice President Han appreciated Mongolia’s prioritization of friendly and cooperative relations with China. He expressed support for strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the legislatures and political parties of both countries and hoped that Mongolia’s State Great Khural would continue to play a crucial role in advancing the steady and long-term development of China-Mongolia relations.
Speaker Amarbayasgalan affirmed that maintaining and strengthening mutually beneficial relations with China is Mongolia’s strategic choice and consensus. He expressed eagerness to expand exchanges and cooperation, learn from each other, and deepen collaboration.
Vice President Han’s visit is expected to further solidify the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Mongolia, fostering closer ties and promoting shared development in the region.
