Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang announced on Friday that China is poised to strengthen education cooperation and cultural exchanges with Africa and UNESCO. Speaking at the opening ceremony of a China-Africa-UNESCO dialogue on education and cultural heritage protection in Beijing, Ding emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in these fields.
Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, highlighted plans to advance digital education exchanges, empower youth employment and entrepreneurship, and enhance the protection of cultural heritage.
“Joint efforts will be made to advance digital education exchanges and cooperation, empower youth employment and entrepreneurship, and enhance the protection of cultural heritage,” Ding stated.
One of the key initiatives announced is China’s collaboration with UNESCO to establish a heritage protection trust fund. This fund aims to bolster Africa’s capacity to safeguard its rich cultural heritage.
The opening ceremony gathered approximately 460 participants, including government officials from China and African nations, underscoring the significance of the dialogue in fostering stronger ties between China and Africa in the realms of education and culture.
