A recent survey conducted across ten African countries has unveiled overwhelming support for the principles guiding China-Africa cooperation, highlighting a deepening bond and shared vision for the future between the two regions.
The poll, carried out by CGTN and Renmin University of China through the New Era International Communication Research Institute, gathered responses from 10,125 participants in Cameroon, Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania.
Sincerity in Partnership
The cornerstone of China-Africa relations is built on sincerity. China has consistently supported African nations in pursuing development paths tailored to their national circumstances. This approach has resonated strongly with the African populace, with nearly 82% of respondents praising China for its respect, appreciation, and support. About 81% acknowledged China’s commitment to solidarity and cooperation as a fundamental aspect of its foreign policy.
Tangible Results Fuel Development
China’s contributions to African infrastructure and modernization efforts have yielded significant tangible results. Since the inception of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, over 13,000 kilometers of highways and railways have been constructed, alongside more than 80 large-scale power facilities. Additionally, numerous projects under the Belt and Road Initiative have brought substantial benefits to the continent.
Nearly 89% of those surveyed indicated that China-Africa cooperation has improved socioeconomic conditions and delivered real benefits to local communities. An impressive 92% noted improvements in infrastructure, while close to 75% observed enhanced living standards.
Looking ahead, respondents expressed a strong desire for continued collaboration, particularly in science and technology, economy and trade, education, healthcare, and agriculture.
Strengthening Bonds Through Amity
The enduring friendship between China and Africa is fortified by mutual affection and understanding. Almost 94% of participants affirmed the long-lasting nature of China-Africa friendship. Approximately 90% agreed that cooperative efforts have deepened mutual understanding between peoples, and a similar percentage expressed interest in more Chinese cultural initiatives being introduced in Africa.
Commitment to Good Faith
In an era of global complexities, China and Africa stand united in promoting multilateralism and opposing protectionism and unilateral actions. Over 78% of respondents believe that China is dedicated to aligning its development goals with those of Africa, intertwining the interests of both peoples.
Nearly 90% support the continuation of mutual backing on issues of core interests and major concerns, emphasizing the importance of China’s steadfast support for Africa’s positions in international and regional affairs.
A Shared Vision for the Future
The survey reflects a strong endorsement of China-Africa cooperation and a shared aspiration to build an even closer community with a shared future. The principles of sincerity, real results, amity, and good faith not only characterize past and present relations but also illuminate the path forward for collaborative development and prosperity.
