Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called on Tianjin Municipality to deepen reforms and promote high-quality development through innovation and high-standard opening-up.
During an inspection tour in Tianjin on Monday, following the conclusion of the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Li emphasized the importance of comprehensive reform to stimulate vitality and drive economic growth.
At a science and technology innovation park, Premier Li engaged with researchers and representatives from fintech institutions and startups to understand advancements in innovation service ecosystems and the practical application of research outcomes. He stressed the need to integrate technological and industrial innovation, enhance support for scientific researchers, and bolster small and medium-sized tech enterprises.
Visiting an elevator manufacturer and a financial leasing company in the Binhai New Area, Li underscored the significance of leveraging favorable policies, such as the country’s large-scale equipment upgrade program. He advocated for robust support to enterprises in promoting innovation, particularly in artificial intelligence applications.
Li highlighted the crucial role of financial tools, including financial leasing, in serving the real economy and facilitating industrial transformation and upgrading. He urged the Binhai New Area to invigorate its development by deepening reforms, encouraging institutional innovation, and overcoming bottlenecks in areas like the pilot free trade zone, financial innovation, new urbanization, and high-standard opening-up.
The Premier called for amplifying Tianjin’s port and shipping advantages, unlocking the vast potential of industrial upgrading, and strengthening policy and project cooperation with neighboring Beijing and Hebei Province. This regional collaboration, he noted, is vital for promoting coordinated development and achieving shared prosperity.
