China has issued a stern warning that any country, organization, or individual stepping on its red line regarding the Taiwan question will face consequences. Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, emphasized on Monday that China’s stance on the Taiwan question is unwavering and integral to its core interests.
“No one should imagine they can step on or even cross China’s red line on the Taiwan question without paying a price,” Lin stated during a regular press briefing. He reiterated that the Taiwan question is the most important red line that cannot be crossed in China-U.S. relations.
In response to recent U.S. arms sales to the Taiwan region, China has implemented legal countermeasures against the main contractors and senior executives involved. The measures also target military-industrial enterprises that have participated in arms sales and attended the “U.S.-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference” in recent years.
Lin pointed out that the U.S. arms sales seriously violate the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-U.S. joint communiques, particularly the August 17 Communique of 1982. “These actions undermine China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he noted.
China’s firm stance serves as a reminder of its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty. “No one should underestimate the strong determination, will, and ability of the Chinese government and people in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Lin asserted.
