Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held significant meetings on Friday with Gabonese Minister of Foreign Affairs Regis Onanga Ndiaye, Malagasy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rafaravavitafika Rasata, and former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. These meetings took place against the backdrop of the Second High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development in Beijing.
During his discussion with Regis Onanga Ndiaye, Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the importance of the Global Development Initiative (GDI). He highlighted how the GDI responds to the urgent aspirations of developing nations seeking accelerated growth. Wang Yi expressed China's appreciation for Gabon's active participation in the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative, underscoring the collaborative spirit between the two countries.
"China is willing to work together with African countries to gather strength in order to accelerate the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," Wang Yi stated.
