China and Tajikistan Advocate for Inclusive Afghan Government During Xi Jinping’s Visit

China and Tajikistan jointly called for the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan on Friday, emphasizing the importance of representation from all ethnic, religious, and political groups within the country.

In a joint statement, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to an Afghanistan that is independent, neutral, united, inclusive, and peaceful. They highlighted the shared interest of the Afghan people and regional countries in seeing Afghanistan free from terrorism, war, and drugs, living in harmony with its neighbors.

The statement was issued during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Tajikistan. Prior to this visit, President Xi attended a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana and paid a state visit to Kazakhstan. The discussions underscored the strengthening ties between China and Tajikistan and their mutual desire for stability and prosperity in the region.

China and Tajikistan’s appeal for an inclusive Afghan government reflects a broader regional effort to promote peace and cooperation in Central Asia. The two countries expressed hope that Afghanistan’s progress towards inclusivity would contribute positively to regional security and development.
