Astana, Kazakhstan — Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Thursday, expressing optimism about the future of China-Belarus relations. Xi predicted that the ties between the two nations would continue to develop healthily and make significant strides under their joint efforts.
Highlighting Lukashenko’s two visits to China in 2023, Xi noted that they had collaboratively drawn up a new blueprint for advancing a comprehensive strategic partnership. “Through our joint efforts, bilateral relations will continue to develop healthily and with great strides,” Xi stated.
Since the beginning of the year, China and Belarus have maintained close exchanges at all levels. The consensus reached between the two countries has been effectively implemented, strengthening cooperation across various sectors.
Xi also extended his congratulations to Belarus on becoming a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) during the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO. This membership marks a significant step for Belarus in enhancing its engagement with regional partners.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting regional stability and economic development. Their meeting in Astana underscores the deepening ties and shared vision between China and Belarus.
