Chinese President Xi Jinping Meets Turkish President Erdogan in Astana

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met on Thursday in Astana, Kazakhstan, to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss cooperation on international issues.

President Xi emphasized that the relationship between China and Türkiye has maintained a stable development momentum. He noted that as large developing countries and members of the Global South, China and Türkiye share a broad consensus on seeking national development and revitalization, as well as upholding principles of international relations.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of supporting each other in safeguarding core interests and strengthening political mutual trust. President Xi called for expanding trade between the two countries and encouraged Chinese enterprises to increase investment in Türkiye. He also expressed support for enhancing cooperation on infrastructure projects and promoting tourism by encouraging more Chinese citizens to visit Türkiye.

Regarding international issues, President Xi highlighted that China and Türkiye have many common or similar views on matters such as the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Ukraine crisis. He underscored the need for close communication between the two nations on these issues.

President Xi stated that China is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Türkiye within multilateral frameworks, including the United Nations and the G20.
