Xi Jinping to Discuss Key Cooperation in Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Visits

Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to embark on state visits to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in the coming days, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in key areas with the two Central Asian nations.

According to China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, President Xi will meet with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to discuss topics encompassing economy, trade, investment, connectivity, energy, culture, and more.

Deepening China-Kazakhstan Relations

Kazakhstan, a permanent comprehensive strategic partner and friendly neighbor of China, has shared a healthy and stable relationship with China over the past 32 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties. “China-Kazakhstan relations have consistently maintained a momentum of development,” Mao Ning stated.

Cooperation between the two countries has been fruitful across various fields, including the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Last year, Xi and Tokayev met in Xi’an and Beijing, charting new plans for the development of China-Kazakhstan relations, leading the cooperation into a golden period of rapid development.

This upcoming visit marks President Xi’s fifth trip to Kazakhstan. It is expected to further enhance and upgrade China-Kazakhstan relations, enrich high-quality cooperation within the BRI framework, and improve the well-being of people in both countries.

Strengthening Ties with Tajikistan

Tajikistan, also a comprehensive strategic partner and friendly neighbor of China, will welcome President Xi for the first time in five years. Under the strategic leadership of Xi and Rahmon, China-Tajikistan relations have maintained positive momentum, with strengthened political mutual trust and fruitful results in BRI cooperation.

“Cultural exchanges have deepened, and there has been close cooperation on international and regional affairs,” Mao Ning highlighted. In May last year, the two leaders jointly announced the establishment of a China-Tajikistan community with a shared future characterized by long-term friendship, mutual support, and mutually beneficial cooperation.

China looks forward to using this visit as an opportunity to further consolidate political mutual trust, deepen high-quality BRI cooperation, and promote mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. This will inject new and strong momentum into the development of China-Tajikistan relations, elevating the comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.

Anticipated Outcomes

These state visits underscore China’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with its neighbors in Central Asia. By enhancing cooperation and mutual understanding, the nations aim to promote regional stability and development, benefiting all parties involved.
