Peruvian President Boluarte to Strengthen Ties with China in State Visit

Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra is set to embark on a state visit to China from June 25 to 29 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, according to a statement released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday.

“Peru is an important country in Latin America, and China and Peru have a comprehensive strategic partnership,” said Mao Ning, spokesperson for the ministry. She emphasized that over half a century since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two nations have maintained stable development, with bilateral cooperation yielding fruitful results and bringing tangible benefits to their peoples.

This trip marks President Boluarte’s first state visit to China. During her visit, she is scheduled to hold talks with President Xi Jinping. Additionally, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee Zhao Leji will meet with her separately.

Mao expressed optimism about the visit, stating, “China looks forward to further consolidating mutual political trust and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with Peru through this visit, aiming to push the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership to bear more positive results.”

Peru and China have longstanding economic and cultural ties. The two countries have collaborated in various sectors, including trade, infrastructure, and cultural exchange, strengthening their bonds over the years.

The upcoming visit is expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in areas such as economic development, investment, and cultural exchanges. Both nations are anticipated to explore new avenues to foster growth and mutual understanding in the context of an evolving global landscape.

As President Boluarte prepares for her journey to China, both countries anticipate a deepening of ties and a commitment to shared prosperity.
