A seminar focusing on China’s law-based governance and human rights protection convened on Friday in Hefei, Anhui Province, drawing experts and scholars from across the nation. The gathering highlighted China’s achievements in legal protections for human rights and explored the country’s contributions to global human rights discourse.
Xie Fuzhan, chairman of the China Foundation for Human Rights Development, addressed the seminar, emphasizing China’s commitment to respecting and safeguarding human rights as a fundamental aspect of national governance. “We have successfully embarked on a human rights development path that aligns with our national conditions and the trends of our times,” Xie stated. “Our great achievements in this cause have significantly enhanced the people’s sense of happiness and security.”
Xie also noted China’s active participation in international human rights legal systems, underscoring efforts to promote global human rights governance. “While advancing our own human rights cause, we contribute to the improvement of human rights worldwide,” he added.
Zuo Feng, vice chairman and secretary-general of the China Foundation for Human Rights Development, remarked on the seminar’s comprehensive approach. Using typical cases and detailed data from various perspectives and fields, the event demonstrated China’s progress in protecting human rights and advancing the rule of law.
Liu Xinsheng, a human rights expert with the UN Human Rights Council Advisory Committee, highlighted the global impact of China’s legal advancements. “China’s comprehensive promotion of the rule of law has injected new energy into international human rights protection,” Liu said.
Participants engaged in discussions on current issues, including enhancing the well-being of people’s livelihoods through legal means, protecting human rights in emerging fields, and developing laws related to foreign affairs. The seminar served as a platform for sharing insights and fostering collaborative efforts to further human rights protections within China and beyond.
