On June 14, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng met with U.S. Director of National Drug Control Policy Rahul Gupta in Washington, D.C. The two officials engaged in candid and in-depth discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral counter-narcotics cooperation based on mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit.
Ambassador Xie emphasized that fentanyl is not a problem originating from China. “Based on humanitarian considerations, China has been assisting the U.S. side within its ability in dealing with the fentanyl issue, making great efforts and demonstrating sincerity in cooperation,” he stated.
He urged the U.S. side to reciprocate China’s goodwill. “We hope the U.S. can meet China halfway and effectively resolve the concerns raised by the Chinese side to create a good atmosphere for future cooperation,” Ambassador Xie added.
The meeting reflects a significant step towards strengthening collaboration between China and the United States in addressing global drug trafficking and enhancing international security.
