China Denounces U.S. Sanctions on Chinese Enterprises

Beijing, China — China on Thursday firmly denounced the United States’ recent sanctions imposed on over 300 entities and individuals, including several Chinese enterprises. The U.S. claims these entities have aided Russia in sustaining military production amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, expressed strong opposition at a regular press briefing. “China firmly opposes any illegal unilateral sanctions and long-arm jurisdiction,” Lin stated. “Normal economic and trade exchanges between China and Russia should not be interfered with, nor should they become tools to smear and contain China.”

Lin criticized the U.S. for its widespread use of unilateral sanctions, stating that such actions have caused significant harm globally. “The indiscriminate imposition of unilateral sanctions by the United States undermines the sovereign security of other countries, leads to humanitarian tragedies, and destabilizes global production and supply chains,” he said.

The spokesperson emphasized that the escalation of U.S. sanctions following the Russia-Ukraine crisis does not contribute to resolving the conflict. “This indiscriminate use of sanctions does not help solve the problem but rather becomes a major source of risk in the world,” Lin added.

Reiterating China’s stance on the conflict, Lin stressed, “China is not a creator of or party to the Russia-Ukraine crisis and will never accept the smearing and deflection of blame.”
