China and Indonesia have taken significant steps to enhance their strategic partnership during a high-level meeting held in Jilin Province, northeastern China. On Thursday, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, met with Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Indonesia’s Coordinator for Cooperation with China.
The discussions centered on deepening cooperation across multiple sectors, with both nations expressing a strong willingness to build a China-Indonesia community with a shared future. Wang Yi emphasized China’s readiness to collaborate with Indonesia to forge a model relationship between major developing countries, highlighting the importance of high-level strategic mutual trust and synergistic development.
“China stands ready to work with Indonesia to enhance our comprehensive strategic partnership,” Wang said. “We aim to plan the next stage of high-level exchanges, consolidate our strategic mutual trust, and firmly support each other’s core interests and major concerns.”
Key areas of focus include advancing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) collaboration, expanding cooperation in the digital economy, green development, and improving livelihoods. Both sides are keen on strengthening the synergy of their development strategies and promoting maritime cooperation.
Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan expressed Indonesia’s commitment to aligning its Global Maritime Fulcrum vision with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. “We are eager to deepen cooperation in maritime affairs, fisheries, healthcare, artificial intelligence, food security, and green energy,” Luhut stated.
The meeting signifies a continued commitment from both countries to enhance their partnership, fostering economic growth and stability in the region. The strategic alignment is expected to bring about mutual benefits, not only for China and Indonesia but also for the broader Asian community.
