China has expressed deep condolences over the tragic death of Malawian Vice President Saulos Chilima and other victims in a recent plane crash. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian conveyed sympathies to the bereaved families during a regular press briefing on Wednesday.
“China stands in solidarity with the government and people of Malawi during this difficult time,” Lin Jian stated. “We believe that under the leadership of President Lazarus Chakwera, Malawi will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger.”
The vice president and nine others were confirmed dead after their military aircraft went missing on Monday morning. President Chakwera announced the devastating news on Tuesday, marking a significant loss for the nation.
China and Malawi have maintained a sincere and cooperative partnership focused on development and mutual support. The Chinese government and people reaffirmed their commitment to stand firmly with Malawi, offering assistance and support as needed.
