China Expresses Readiness to Strengthen Relations with India After Modi’s Election Win

China has extended its congratulations to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his National Democratic Alliance (NDA) following their decisive victory in the 2024 Indian general elections. The spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, conveyed Beijing’s readiness to collaborate with New Delhi to promote the sound and stable development of bilateral relations.

“China is prepared to work with India to push forward the healthy and steady growth of our bilateral ties in the fundamental interests of our two countries and peoples,” Mao Ning stated during a regular press briefing on Wednesday. She emphasized that a harmonious China-India relationship aligns with the common interests of both nations and contributes positively to peace and development in the region and the world.

The re-election of Prime Minister Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA marks a significant moment in India’s political landscape. As two of the world’s most populous nations and largest emerging economies, China and India share a complex relationship characterized by both cooperation and competition.

Analysts suggest that renewed diplomatic efforts could pave the way for resolving longstanding issues and enhancing economic collaboration. Increased engagement between the two countries may lead to advancements in trade, technology, and cultural exchanges, benefiting not only China and India but also the broader Asian region.

The international community is closely watching how the two neighbors will navigate their relationship in the coming years. With both countries playing pivotal roles in global affairs, their partnership has the potential to influence regional stability and economic growth across Asia.
