China and Venezuela Strengthen Ties as Foreign Ministers Meet in Beijing

China and Venezuela Deepen All-Weather Strategic Partnership

In a symbolic meeting on Wednesday in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Venezuelan counterpart, Yvan Gil Pinto, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. The two leaders pledged to enhance collaboration in the global multilateral sphere, signaling a strengthening of their all-weather strategic partnership.

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, emphasized the importance of long-term strategic planning. “As we mark half a century of our diplomatic ties, it’s imperative that we chart a forward-looking course to infuse new dynamics into our partnership,” Wang stated.

Expressing steadfast support for Venezuela, Wang affirmed China’s commitment to upholding Venezuela’s national sovereignty and dignity. “China fully supports Venezuela in exploring a development path that aligns with its national conditions,” he added.

Yvan Gil Pinto echoed the sentiment, highlighting the shared vision between the two countries. “Our cooperation with China is pivotal for Venezuela’s industrialization and economic diversification,” he remarked.

The discussions underscored mutual aspirations to expand bilateral trade and broaden areas of cooperation. Both sides expressed readiness to accelerate joint initiatives that would bolster Venezuela’s economic growth and contribute to regional stability.
