Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin is set to embark on an official visit to China from June 4 to 8 at the invitation of Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Monday.

The visit aims to strengthen the longstanding diplomatic and economic ties between Brazil and China, two of the world’s largest emerging economies. During his stay, Vice President Alckmin is expected to engage in high-level discussions with Chinese officials, exploring opportunities for collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, technology, and sustainable development.

China is Brazil’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching new heights in recent years. This visit underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen their strategic partnership and enhance cooperation in the global arena.

“China attaches great importance to its relationship with Brazil,” Mao Ning stated during a press briefing. “We look forward to fruitful discussions that will promote mutual understanding and benefit both countries.”

Analysts anticipate that the meetings will address key issues including infrastructure development, renewable energy projects, and the strengthening of cultural and educational exchanges.

This visit marks Vice President Alckmin’s first official trip to China since taking office. It reflects Brazil’s intent to engage more actively with Asian markets and signifies a step forward in fostering stronger ties between South America and Asia.
