In a significant move to bolster economic ties, China and Kuwait agreed on Friday to enhance cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya. The meeting was held in China during the 10th ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

Wang Yi expressed China’s appreciation for Kuwait’s proactive role in fostering solidarity and cooperation between China and Arab states. He affirmed China’s support for Kuwait’s greater involvement in international and regional affairs.

“China is ready to work with Kuwait to implement the important consensus reached by our heads of state,” Wang Yi stated. He emphasized the desire to actively promote cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, sewage treatment, investment, new energy, digital economy, and artificial intelligence. Wang Yi also highlighted the importance of strengthening cultural and people-to-people exchanges to deepen the strategic partnership between China and Kuwait.

Al-Yahya noted that under the guidance of the two nations’ leaders, Kuwait-China relations have entered the best period in history. He described China as a long-term and reliable strategic partner and expressed Kuwait’s eagerness to strengthen high-level exchanges, jointly promote Belt and Road cooperation, and expand economic, trade, and investment collaboration.

Al-Yahya also thanked China for its just position on the Palestinian issue. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to enhancing cooperation between Arab states and China to achieve greater results.

The strengthened partnership between China and Kuwait under the Belt and Road Initiative is expected to open new avenues for economic growth and regional stability, benefiting both nations and the broader Arab region.
