Addressing delegates from various Arab nations, Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that the Palestine issue remains at the heart of Middle East affairs. “No matter how the international situation changes, China will always firmly support the restoration of the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people,” Wang stated.
He reiterated China’s commitment to backing the establishment of an independent State of Palestine, fully sovereign, based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Additionally, Wang expressed China’s support for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations, highlighting the importance of international recognition and legitimacy for the Palestinian cause.
Wang Yi underscored China’s willingness to play a greater role in promoting internal reconciliation among Palestinian factions. He noted that unity within Palestine is essential for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
Commenting on the current situation in Gaza, Wang described it as “unsustainable” and called for an unconditional and immediate ceasefire, echoing international consensus. “Improving the humanitarian situation is a pressing priority, and the lives of innocent civilians shall not continue to be harmed,” he emphasized.
Concluding his remarks, Wang Yi affirmed China’s commitment to standing firmly with Arab states, upholding justice, and promoting an early, comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Palestine issue.
The conference culminated in the adoption of a China-Arab states joint statement on the Palestine issue, signifying a unified stance and strengthening cooperation between China and Arab nations in pursuing peace in the Middle East.
