In a significant move to enhance China-Arab relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit of the League of Arab States at the 10th Ministerial Conference of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum in Beijing on Wednesday. Both leaders expressed a strong commitment to strengthening practical cooperation and advancing efforts to resolve the Palestine issue.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the historic depth of China-Arab ties. “The League of Arab States was the first regional organization to sign a joint statement with China aimed at further implementing the Global Civilization Initiative,” he noted, emphasizing that bilateral relations are currently in their best period ever.
He affirmed China’s readiness to work closely with the Arab League to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of both sides, enhance political mutual trust, and deepen exchanges and cooperation across various fields.
“China supports Arab countries in strengthening unity and playing a greater role on the issue of Palestine,” Wang stated. “We are willing to work with the League of Arab States and Arab countries to promote a comprehensive, just, and lasting settlement of the Palestine issue.”
Secretary-General Aboul-Gheit expressed the Arab League’s strong commitment to developing relations with China, reaffirming support for the one-China principle. “The Arab League highly appreciates China’s position on the Palestine issue and is willing to continue to work with China to promote its resolution,” he said.
The meeting underscores China’s growing engagement in Middle Eastern affairs and its role as a mediator in regional conflicts. By fostering stronger ties with Arab nations, China aims to contribute to peace and stability in the region while expanding its influence and cooperation in political, economic, and cultural domains.
