Chinese Premier Calls for China, Japan, and ROK to Unite Against External Disruption

Chinese Premier Li Qiang urged China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (ROK) to reject external disruption and strengthen harmonious coexistence during the eighth business summit among the three nations on Monday. Attended by ROK President Yoon Suk-yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, the summit highlighted the significance of mutual support and collaboration in the region.

“Geographically separated by a narrow strip of water, China, Japan, and the ROK should be peaceful and friendly neighbors,” Li emphasized. He called on the three countries to learn from history and focus on the future, aligning with the aspirations of their peoples to live in peace and prosperity. “We must strive to eliminate external interference and always live in harmony, upholding solidarity,” he added.

Li highlighted the deep economic integration of the three economies, noting that their interdependence necessitates close partnership and joint development. He encouraged exploration of complementary advantages and new areas of cooperation to achieve higher levels of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. “By regarding each other as important opportunities on the path to development, we can unlock greater potential for our region,” Li stated.

The summit served as a platform for the leaders to discuss ways to enhance economic ties and foster stability in East Asia. The emphasis on rejecting external disruptions underscores a collective desire to manage regional affairs independently and strengthen intra-regional cooperation.
