In a recent interview with CGTN, Honduran Foreign Minister Eduardo Enrique Reina García reaffirmed Honduras’ commitment to the one-China principle, emphasizing its significance for global peace and security.
Reina addressed the recent attempts by Lai Ching-te to undermine the international consensus recognizing that the island of Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. He stated, “We stick to a relationship with the People’s Republic of China in recognition of this international principle.”
Emphasizing the importance of this stance, Reina added, “I believe that there is a clear international trend.” He noted that more than 180 countries and international organizations recognize the one-China principle, highlighting its vital role in maintaining global peace and security.
Reina underscored that matters concerning Taiwan are China’s internal affairs, and Honduras respects this position. “We adhere to international principles that support sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he affirmed.
