China has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation with Iran, aiming to safeguard the common interests of both nations. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made these remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs meeting in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, emphasized China’s readiness to enhance collaboration with Iran across various sectors.
Wang expressed China’s support for Iran’s pursuit of stability and development under the leadership of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. He highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership between China and Iran in contributing to regional and global peace.
Mehdi Safari conveyed Iran’s appreciation for China’s steadfast support. He affirmed that Iran’s domestic and foreign policies would continue steadily under the guidance of the supreme leader. Safari noted Iran’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with China in politics, economy, culture, and other fields.
Furthermore, Safari thanked China for its role in facilitating the reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran. He vowed to continue efforts to improve relations with regional countries, aligning with the shared goal of regional peace and stability.
The meeting underscores the deepening ties between China and Iran as both countries seek to expand their cooperation within international frameworks like the SCO.
