China’s Wang Yi Offers Condolences Over Deaths of Iranian President and Foreign Minister

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has extended his heartfelt condolences over the tragic deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who perished in a helicopter accident.

During a press briefing in Astana alongside Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims, the Iranian government, and the people of Iran.

“President Raisi and Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian made significant contributions to the development of China-Iran relations and to promoting friendly regional cooperation,” Wang Yi stated. He emphasized China’s readiness to support Iran during this difficult time, noting that China has already provided assistance for Iran’s rescue efforts and will continue to offer necessary support.

Wang Yi expressed confidence in the Iranian government’s and people’s ability to overcome this challenging moment, underscoring the solidarity between the two nations.

The unexpected loss of Iran’s top leaders has sent shockwaves throughout the international community. Many world leaders have expressed their condolences and support for Iran.

Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping also offered his condolences over the passing of President Raisi, highlighting the profound friendship between China and Iran and reaffirming China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
