China has expressed its readiness to broaden economic and trade cooperation with Kazakhstan, according to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. During a meeting in Astana on Monday with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu, Wang emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral ties.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stated that China anticipates both nations will soon reach a consensus on a new version of the bilateral investment treaty. He highlighted China’s hope that Kazakhstan will provide a favorable business environment to facilitate Chinese enterprises investing and conducting business in the country.
The discussions underscored China’s willingness to collaborate with Kazakhstan in strengthening cooperation in areas such as oil and gas resources. Wang mentioned the desire to continue improving the efficiency and quality of connectivity between the two countries. He also pointed out the potential to expand cooperation in emerging industries, fostering new productive forces.
Furthermore, Wang expressed China’s support for expanding tourism cooperation and strengthening people-to-people exchanges with Kazakhstan.
Nurtleu, in response, affirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to working with China to promote the continued rapid development of bilateral ties in the spirit of good-neighborliness and mutual respect. He expressed readiness to expand pragmatic cooperation in various fields, including the economy, trade, and agriculture, and to deepen tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
He also reiterated Kazakhstan’s firm adherence to the one-China principle.
