Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin in Dushanbe on Sunday, emphasizing the need to harness their countries’ complementary advantages to upgrade pragmatic cooperation.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stated that China is willing to assist Tajikistan in accelerating industrialization and enhancing its social and economic development. “China and Tajikistan should fully utilize their strengths to elevate our practical cooperation to new heights,” Wang said during the meeting.
The meeting follows Wang’s discussion with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on Saturday, underscoring the growing ties between the two nations. China aims to increase trade volume with Tajikistan, promote cooperation in mining resources, and expand into emerging sectors such as new energy and green transition.
“China supports more Chinese-funded companies investing in Tajikistan and hopes the Tajik side will provide a favorable business environment for Chinese enterprises,” Wang added.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to supporting each other in international affairs, safeguarding strategic interests, and upholding international justice. Muhriddin expressed Tajikistan’s readiness to work closely with China across various fields, stating, “We are committed to deepening our cooperation and firmly adhere to the one-China principle.”
Tajikistan also expressed willingness to implement the Global Security Initiative with China and address security challenges together. Muhriddin highlighted the importance of coordination within international organizations, including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the China-Central Asia mechanism.
The strengthened partnership between China and Tajikistan is expected to contribute significantly to regional stability and economic growth, benefiting not only the two nations but the broader Central Asian region.
