China and Tajikistan Pledge to Boost Pragmatic Cooperation
In a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties, China and Tajikistan have agreed to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, and security. The agreement was reached during Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s official visit to Dushanbe, where he met with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin and President Emomali Rahmon.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the importance of leveraging the complementary advantages of both countries. “China is willing to help Tajikistan accelerate the process of industrialization and raise the level of social and economic development,” Wang stated during his meeting with Muhriddin.
The discussions focused on increasing trade volume, promoting cooperation in mining resources, and expanding into emerging areas such as new energy and green transition. Wang Yi expressed China’s support for Chinese-funded companies investing in Tajikistan and encouraged the Tajik side to provide a favorable business environment for these enterprises.
“Both countries should continue to firmly support each other in international affairs, jointly safeguard the strategic interests of the two countries, and uphold international justice,” Wang added, highlighting the mutual commitment to deepening diplomatic ties.
Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin reaffirmed his country’s readiness to work closely with China. “Tajikistan will firmly adhere to the one-China principle and is willing to jointly implement the Global Security Initiative with China to address security challenges together,” Muhriddin said.
He also noted Tajikistan’s intention to enhance coordination and cooperation with China within international organizations such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the China-Central Asia mechanism.
The visit underscores the growing partnership between the two countries, aiming to promote regional stability and economic prosperity. With shared goals and collaborative efforts, China and Tajikistan are poised to make significant strides in their bilateral relations.
