Peng Liyuan Champions Cultural Exchange on European Tour

Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, recently embarked on a European tour to Serbia and Hungary, where she championed the importance of cultural exchange and educational cooperation in strengthening people-to-people bonds between China and Europe.

Building Bridges Among Civilizations

During her visit to the National Museum of Serbia on Wednesday, Peng emphasized that museums serve not only as guardians of cultural relics but also as vital platforms for promoting civilization. She expressed her hope that China and Serbia would enhance cultural exchanges and cooperation, building bridges for dialogue among civilizations.

In support of this vision, the China Cultural Center in Belgrade, jointly established by China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the provincial government of Shandong, recently opened to the public. Covering 6,000 square meters, the center offers classes in Chinese language, traditional Chinese musical instruments, calligraphy, and tai chi, serving as a hub for cultural interaction.

Promoting Educational Cooperation

On Thursday afternoon, Peng visited the Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school in Budapest, accompanied by Hungary’s first lady, Aniko Levai. Peng encouraged the students to continue their efforts in learning the Chinese language and culture, expressing her hope that they would have opportunities to visit or study in China and contribute to the enduring friendship between China and Hungary.

During the visit, Peng and Levai observed classes featuring traditional Chinese cultural activities such as paper cutting and calligraphy. Peng engaged with the students, highlighting the vital role of educational cooperation in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening bilateral ties.
