China and Argentina Pledge Stronger Strategic Partnership in Beijing Meeting

China and Argentina have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their comprehensive strategic partnership during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Argentine counterpart Diana Mondino in Beijing on Tuesday.

“China and Argentina are good friends and good partners,” Wang Yi said, emphasizing the mutual trust and cooperation between the two nations. He noted that both countries are major emerging economies and expressed China’s readiness to be a long-term and reliable cooperative partner for Argentina.

Mondino, on her first official visit to China as Foreign Minister, echoed Wang’s sentiments, stating that regardless of changes in Argentina’s internal political landscape, its friendly policy toward China remains steadfast.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership. Wang suggested that this milestone offers an opportunity to enhance cooperation across various fields and to inject more certainty into their bilateral relations.

Both ministers highlighted the importance of collaboration in sectors such as space exploration, maritime research, and Antarctic studies. They also discussed the potential for sustained, healthy, and balanced development of bilateral trade. Wang assured that China supports Argentina’s efforts to maintain economic and financial stability and is willing to provide assistance within its capacity.

Mondino expressed Argentina’s willingness to promote cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly in infrastructure, trade, investment, finance, tourism, and environmental protection. She encouraged Chinese enterprises to invest and conduct business in Argentina.

The two sides also agreed on the need to deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, especially among the youth, and to enhance cooperation in education and health sectors.

On the international stage, Wang stated that China is ready to work with Argentina and other Latin American and Caribbean countries to promote relationships characterized by equality, mutual benefit, innovation, and openness. Mondino confirmed Argentina’s intention to strengthen communication and coordination within multilateral mechanisms like the United Nations and G20 to safeguard world peace and promote sustainable development.
