Beijing, April 30—In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Bolivian Foreign Minister Celinda Sosa Lunda in Beijing on Sunday. The two leaders pledged to enhance their strategic partnership and firmly safeguard the common interests of the Global South.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that consolidating and developing the China-Bolivia strategic partnership is a long-standing policy of the Chinese government. He noted that the friendly ties between the two countries have effectively promoted Bolivia’s development, revitalization, and industrialization.
“China is willing to work with Bolivia to elevate our strategic partnership to a new level,” Wang stated. He highlighted the upcoming 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Bolivia next year as a prime opportunity to deepen cooperation.
Celinda Sosa Lunda expressed her appreciation for China’s support and reaffirmed Bolivia’s commitment to the partnership. She highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development within the Global South.
The ministers agreed on the necessity to enhance cooperation between their governments, legislatures, and political parties. They discussed the synergy of development strategies and explored new areas of collaboration, including the digital economy, plateau agriculture, information and communication technologies, and green development.
“By working together, we can create a brighter future for both our nations and contribute positively to the prosperity of the Global South,” Wang added.
The meeting signifies a strengthened resolve between China and Bolivia to advance cooperation and strategy coordination, reflecting a shared vision for mutual growth and solidarity among developing nations.
