Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday emphasized the importance of consolidating and expanding the achievements made in poverty alleviation. During his research trip to southwest China’s Guizhou Province, he called for continued government support to prevent any large-scale return to poverty.
As a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Premier Li visited several key sites across the province. In Kaili City, he engaged with residents at a local community, discussing the impacts of poverty alleviation programs on their daily lives.
In Majiang County, Premier Li toured an industrial demonstration park, highlighting the role of industry in providing sustainable employment opportunities. He stressed the need for developing local industries to create jobs and boost the regional economy.
At a vocational school in Taijiang County, he met with students and educators to underscore the significance of education and skills training in lifting communities out of poverty. Premier Li encouraged the integration of vocational education with local industry needs, ensuring that graduates have the skills required for available jobs.
Guizhou Province, known for its scenic landscapes and ethnic diversity, has been a focal point in China’s nationwide poverty alleviation campaign. Over recent years, significant progress has been made in improving infrastructure, education, and healthcare, lifting millions out of poverty.
Premier Li’s visit underscored the Chinese government’s commitment to eradicating poverty and ensuring long-term prosperity for its people. He urged local authorities to build on existing successes and implement measures that would prevent any setbacks in poverty reduction efforts.
