Chinese Mainland Eases Travel Permit Use for Taiwan Residents in Fujian Province

The Chinese mainland is set to further ease the use of travel permits for Taiwan residents in Fujian Province, according to spokesperson Zhu Fenglian from the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office.

During a regular press conference on Wednesday, Zhu highlighted that Fujian has introduced measures to provide greater convenience for Taiwan compatriots holding travel permits, encompassing areas such as travel, finance, and telecommunications.

These advancements stem from a series of entry-exit policies that came into effect on January 1, 2024. The initiatives are designed to enhance personnel exchanges between Fujian and Taiwan and to facilitate the daily lives of Taiwan residents in Fujian.

“By simplifying procedures and expanding the utility of travel permits, we aim to foster closer ties and mutual benefits between people across the Taiwan Strait,” Zhu said.

Fujian Province, located on the southeastern coast of China, holds historical and cultural ties with Taiwan. The new policies are expected to strengthen these connections, promoting economic and social integration.

The measures signify the Chinese mainland’s commitment to improving cross-strait relations by making it easier for Taiwan residents to live, work, and travel in Fujian, enhancing cooperation and understanding.
