Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, conducted an inspection tour in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality on Monday and Tuesday, emphasizing the region’s pivotal role in China’s development strategy.

During his visit, Xi inspected an international logistics hub park, a community in Jiulongpo District, and a digital urban operation and governance center. These stops underscored his focus on accelerating the development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity between western China and global markets.

At the logistics hub park, Xi learned about efforts to streamline trade routes, reduce transportation costs, and foster economic growth in the region. The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is expected to bolster trade links between China and Southeast Asia, offering new opportunities for businesses and investors.

In Jiulongpo District, Xi visited a local community to observe urban renewal projects designed to improve residents’ living conditions. He emphasized the importance of ensuring and enhancing the people’s well-being through sustainable development and modernization initiatives.

The tour also included a stop at a digital urban operation and governance center, where Xi reviewed advancements in city governance. The center utilizes cutting-edge technology to improve public services, infrastructure management, and emergency response capabilities.

Xi’s visit to Chongqing highlights the municipality’s significant role in China’s broader economic and social development plans. By focusing on trade, urban renewal, and modernization, the leadership aims to promote balanced regional growth and improve the quality of life for citizens.
