In a reaffirmation of deep-rooted ties, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Phnom Penh on Monday, pledging unwavering support for Cambodia’s development.
“No matter how the international situation has changed, China will always be Cambodia’s most reliable friend and firmest supporter,” Wang Yi stated, emphasizing the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, highlighted various cooperation frameworks and projects that have brought tangible benefits to the people of both countries. He expressed China’s willingness to work with Cambodia to implement a new version of the action plan for building a community with a shared future, aiming to enhance mutual trust, support, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.
Prime Minister Hun Manet acknowledged the significant opportunities China’s development has provided to regional countries, noting that Cambodia has greatly benefited. He affirmed Cambodia’s firm support for China’s positions on issues concerning China’s core interests, including those related to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Xinjiang.
Hun Manet expressed Cambodia’s active participation in the Belt and Road Initiative and its support for China’s Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative. He emphasized Cambodia’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with China across various fields, welcome more Chinese investment, promote major project implementations, enhance coordination in multilateral affairs, and continuously enrich the community with a shared future between Cambodia and China.
The meeting underscores the strong bilateral relationship and mutual commitment to regional stability and development, reflecting the enduring partnership between China and Cambodia.
