Gabon and China have enjoyed 50 years of fruitful diplomatic relations, marked by win-win cooperation across various fields that have significantly benefited both nations. Gabonese Foreign Minister Regis Onanga Ndiaye highlighted these achievements at a seminar on Friday celebrating the milestone anniversary.

Speaking at the event, which was attended by over 150 representatives including Chinese Embassy officials and Gabonese ministers, Onanga Ndiaye emphasized the dynamic and rich ties between Gabon and China since the establishment of diplomatic relations. He noted that the relationship was elevated to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership last year, reflecting the commitment of both countries’ leaders.

The foreign minister welcomed the high level of cooperation with China, stating that in recent years, China has become a significant player in the economic development of African countries. He called on both nations to reaffirm their commitment to a South-South partnership aimed at shared prosperity.

He pointed out that China has been Gabon’s largest trading partner for 11 consecutive years since 2013. Zhu noted that the two economies are highly complementary, with numerous Chinese companies investing in various sectors in Gabon, creating jobs and boosting local economic and social development.

The seminar, themed “Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between China and Gabon: Opportunities and Prospects,” was jointly organized by the Gabonese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in Gabon. Gabonese Minister of Media and Communication Laurence Ndong and Minister of Water and Forests Maurice Ntossui Allogo were among the attendees.
