Xi Jinping Unveils New PLA Information Support Force in Beijing

In a significant step toward modernizing China’s military capabilities, President Xi Jinping presented a flag to the newly established Information Support Force of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) during a ceremony held on Friday in Beijing.

As General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), Xi emphasized the importance of building a strong and modernized information support force. He highlighted that the creation of this new strategic branch is a major decision by the CPC Central Committee and the CMC, reflecting the overarching goal of strengthening the military.

The Information Support Force is designed to be a key pillar in coordinating the construction and application of the PLA’s network information system. It is expected to play a crucial role in advancing the military’s development and enhancing its competitiveness in modern warfare.

“The Information Support Force must resolutely obey the Party’s command and remain absolutely loyal, pure, and reliable,” Xi urged. He called for the force to deeply integrate into the PLA’s joint operation system, execute precise and effective information support operations, and facilitate military activities across various domains.

Xi stressed the need to build a network information system that meets the demands of modern warfare and embodies the unique characteristics of the Chinese military. He encouraged accelerated efforts to develop integrated combat capabilities more effectively.

Following the ceremony, Xi met with members of the Information Support Force leadership and took a group photo, marking the significance of this milestone in the PLA’s evolution.

According to a decision by the CMC, the Information Support Force will be directly led by the CMC, and the official designation of the Strategic Support Force has been canceled.
