The Chinese mainland has initiated the west-to-east operation of flight routes W122 and W123, connecting with the existing M503 route, effective from Friday. This move is expected to benefit both sides of the Taiwan Strait, according to a spokesperson.
Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, announced that the new routes aim to alleviate air traffic congestion in the region. “The launch of W122 and W123 will ensure flight safety, reduce delays, and safeguard the rights and interests of passengers,” Zhu said while responding to media inquiries.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China made the official announcement on Friday, emphasizing that the adjustment addresses the growing number of flights in relevant areas. By streamlining air traffic flow, the new routes are set to enhance cross-strait connectivity and foster closer ties between communities on both sides.
The implementation of W122 and W123 is seen as a significant step in improving the efficiency of air travel across the Taiwan Strait. It reflects a commitment to promoting mutual benefits and facilitating people-to-people exchanges in the region.
