China and Slovenia Pledge Deeper Cooperation in Beijing Meeting

BEIJING—Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon on Wednesday, marking a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between China and Slovenia.

During the meeting, Han Zheng highlighted the sound and steady development of China-Slovenia relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties. “China attaches great importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations with Slovenia,” Han said. He emphasized China’s willingness to work with Slovenia to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, enhance bilateral exchanges, consolidate mutual political trust, and expand practical cooperation.

Han Zheng also expressed hope that Slovenia, as a good friend and partner within the European Union, would play a positive and constructive role in promoting China-EU relations and cooperation. “We believe that Slovenia will contribute to the healthy development of China-EU relations,” he stated.

Tanja Fajon affirmed Slovenia’s commitment to its relationship with China, acknowledging the one-China policy as the cornerstone of bilateral relations. “Slovenia attaches great importance to developing its relations with China,” Fajon said. She expressed Slovenia’s willingness to deepen cooperation in fields such as politics, economy, trade, and culture.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to strengthen international cooperation to achieve common development, signaling a promising future for China-Slovenia relations.
