Germany’s Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz has lauded the burgeoning cooperation between German and Chinese enterprises in hydrogen technology, signaling a deepening of bilateral relations between the two nations.
Arriving in Chongqing Municipality on Sunday to begin his three-day official visit to China, Scholz embarked on a tour of significant joint ventures and collaborative scientific projects. His first stop was at Bosch Hydrogen Powertrain Systems (Chongqing) Co., Ltd., a Sino-German joint venture specializing in hydrogen and fuel cell powertrain solutions.
At the Bosch facility, Scholz observed the assembly of hydrogen fuel cell power modules and expressed his admiration for the company’s technological advancements and rapid construction progress. He remarked, “The progress here is truly gratifying.”
Scholz is accompanied by senior representatives from several prominent German companies, including Siemens, Bayer, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Zeiss, highlighting the importance of economic ties between Germany and China. Currently, more than 5,000 German companies operate in China, with the country being Germany’s largest trading partner for several years.
During his visit, Scholz also explored a cooperative scientific research project on water monitoring, underscoring the broad spectrum of collaborative efforts between the two nations.
The Chancellor emphasized Germany’s willingness to continue deepening friendly exchanges with China and to elevate bilateral cooperation to new heights. His visit is seen as a significant step towards strengthening economic and technological partnerships, particularly in the field of clean energy.
